Distance from you
SMALL STEPS. BIG DISTANCES.
Bring your people onto the ruler.
Start with your snapshot.
Choose a city, use a suggested approximate area, or choose to share your device’s location. You decide when to add it.
Send one link.
Your friends open the link and add themselves. Everyone joins the same ruler, even when you’re far apart.
See where everyone fits.
Each friend gets a mark. Tap a friend to compare, switch who you measure from, and choose kilometres or miles.
A MOMENT, SHARED.
Snapshots you choose to share.
Your location stays as you last shared it. It only changes when you update your snapshot. Anyone with the invitation link can see the group, so send it to people you trust.
Remove your own snapshot whenever you like. The creator can remove friends or close the ruler. A group expires after 10 days without a visit.

How is the distance between friends measured?
The ruler calculates the shortest distance across the Earth’s surface between your shared locations. The marks show distance from one selected person. People in different directions can appear at the same mark. Driving routes and travel times are different.
Do I need to share my exact location?
No. You can choose a city or use an approximate area suggested from your internet connection. Device location is optional and requires your browser’s permission. You review your snapshot before sharing it.
How accurate is it?
City centres and approximate areas give broad estimates. Device snapshots may be more precise, depending on your device’s reported accuracy. Displayed distances are rounded, and the ruler shows the age and type of each snapshot.
Will my friends appear in Google?
This public page explains the tool. Shared room pages tell search engines not to index them. Anyone with the invitation link can still open the group, so keep the link private.
Does everyone need to install an app?
No. The shared ruler works in a browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Friends can join the same link without creating an account.
